Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has initiated its recruitment process 2025 to appoint 84 part-time positions (47 Chairpersons and 37 Independent Members) to function in the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) different zones of Maharashtra on a definite tenure of three years.

The candidates to be recommended as a chairperson must be retired senior judicial officer, civil servant (collector rank or equivalent), principal of an engineering college, professor of electrical engineering or a senior electrical engineer in government/distribution licensee, and must have had not less than 25 years relevant experience but must not be more than 65 years of age. They will receive a monthly honorarium of 40,000-50,000/-including sitting fees, conveyance charges, telephone bill etc.

Independent Members should possess a minimum of 10 years experience in dealing with the grievances of the consumers, should know Marathi language and possess less than 65 years of age. Similarly they shall be paid 35, 000 to 40, 000 per month on same inclusive terms. Admission is through offline only.

The applicants are to access the stipulated form and submit their choice along with self-certified copies of original certificates along with all respective recommendation letters at the office of the Secretary, MERC, at the World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai 400005 by 5 pm latest on 18 July 2025 .

The process of selection will involve a personal interview whereby the successful selections will be made depending on merit and zone preference only.
